For the concert "A Cole Porter Celebration" of the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern with Juliane Banse conducted by Dorian Wilson I have arranged songs by Cole Porter for symphony orchestra and compiled three concert overtures on songs from the musicals respectively movies "Anything Goes", "Kiss Me Kate" and "High Society".

"Gemälde einer Vernissage" ("PAINTINGS AT A VERNISSAGE")Zur Bearbeitung hier klicken.
In 2013 I arranged the concept album "Gemälde einer Vernissage" by POND based on pictures by Willi Sitte for a concert with the Brandenburg Symphonic Orchestra at the Stahlwerk Brandenburg. It was thrilling to transfer the synthesizer sounds of the original to the orchestra und then enrichen it with harmonizations and counter melodies to make it sound more "classical". E.g. for the track "Danza funebre del Terzo Reich" I have substituted sound collages with bomber sounds and fragments from speeches with appropriate musical quotations ("Badenweiler Marsch", "Horst-Wessel-Lied", the German national anthem in minor, a passage from Wagners "Lohengrin").
If you have further interest in this project, you can purchase the CD/DVD edition here or listen to one-minute-snippets of all tracks and watch videos of some.
"Inselkomödie oder Lysistrate und die NATO"
"Island Comedy or Lysistrate and the NATO" In 2010 I arranged the songs of the musicals by Florian Fries (music) and Rolf Hochhuth (book and lyrics) for salon orchestra for the staging at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin. ng fällt" |

"Din Daa Daa Goes Classic"
In 2009 I arranged songs by George Kranz for a crossover concert with the Brandenburg Symphonic Orchestra - one of my most thrilling and amusing projects, with the orchestra quasi playing the role of a pop band. I enriched the funky rhythms of the originals with polyphonic dalliances and little quotations in order to meet the expectations kindled by the title "...Goes Classic".
If you like to make a pre-post comparison, you can listen to the original of "Your Touch" here.
"String sound is mega, and your symphonic poem on my song [annotation: "JL Swing"] a delectation. Thanks for your awesome cooperation and terrific arrangements for this project."
Sandro Roy, violinist and composer, about "Sommer in Lesmona" with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, 2017
"Lars has arranged that stunningly. Quite civilized. It sometimes made me ask him, where did you get that from? And he answered, that's all in your songs, I have found it and carved it out. All of a sudden it sounds so different. That even I as the composer ask myself, where does that come from?"
George Kranz, drummer and composer, about "Din Daa Daa Goes Classic", interview with the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung, April 24, 2009
"In the course of our collaboration [annotation: for the opera "Kleist"] and afterwards I had the opportunity to become acquainted with and appreciate autonomous works by Lars J. Lange, including arrangements of popular music for philharmonic orchestra that exceeded the quality of the originals."
Rainer Rubbert, composer
"Lars Lange is a good and experienced arranger, who always delivers interesting and colourful arrangements."
Michael Helmrath, conductor and former GMD of the Brandenburg Symphonic Orchestra
